About the Estate

The Beginning

There is a moment, just before dawn, when the mist settles low over the Western Ghats and the air carries the scent of ripening coffee cherries. It is quiet. It is unhurried. It has been this way for generations.

This is where Kote Coffee begins.

Born on the estate soils of Sakleshpura, Karnataka, we have spent generations learning the language of this land — when to pick, how to dry, what the soil needs, and what it gives back. Long before specialty coffee became a conversation in London's finest cafés, we were already living it. Handpicking only the ripest cherries. Drying beans in our own tiled yards. Cultivating in the shade of Jackfruit and silver oak, the way it has always been done here.

What began as a family farm became an unshakeable belief: that Indian coffee — complex, soulful, and deeply rooted in one of the world's great growing regions — deserves a place at the world's finest tables.

The South Indian filter cup is not simply a beverage. It is a ritual. A moment of stillness in a moving world. Rich, warming, and unlike anything the Western palate has encountered from Ethiopia or Colombia. It is India's greatest kept secret, and we have carried it across continents to share it with you.

Kote Coffee UK exists for one reason — to bring the taste, the warmth, and the unhurried elegance of Indian coffee culture into your cup. Wherever you are in Britain, your next cup should taste like the Western Ghats at dawn.

Why the UK

Britain has one of the most discerning specialty coffee cultures on earth.
London alone has shaped the global conversation around origin, process, and
craft for two decades. And yet Indian coffee — despite its extraordinary
heritage, its unique geography, and its remarkable diversity of flavour —
remains almost entirely absent from British shelves.

Not as a novelty. Not as a single-origin curiosity on someone else's menu.
But as the definitive Indian specialty coffee brand in the UK — with a story,
an estate, and a flavour profile that no British roaster can replicate.

The Estates

Sourced from the Western Ghats. One Uncompromising Standard.

Our coffees come from the Western Ghats — Sakleshapura. It sits at altitude. Each is shade-grown beneath a canopy of jackfruit, silver oak, and mahogany. Each has its own terroir, its own character, and its own story worth telling.

Every bag we sell is coming from our own estate.

How We Grow

Handpicked. Never Swept.

Our cherries are handpicked across two to three careful passes of the same plant — taken only at peak ripeness. They are pulped on our own estate pulper and dried in our clean, tiled drying yards under the Western Ghats sun.

Our soil is nourished with bio-fertilisers, organic compost, coffee husk, and neem powder. We avoid chemical fertilisers wherever possible — not because it is fashionable, but because it is right.

Peacocks move through our plantation at dusk. Elephants pass through the estate on their own routes. We have never considered them an inconvenience. They are proof that what we are doing here is working.

"We have spent years perfecting coffee on the slopes of the Western Ghats. Bringing it to the UK is not just a business decision — it is a statement of pride in what Indian coffee can be. We hope every cup reminds you that the world's finest coffees do not all come from the same places everyone already knows."

— The Kote Coffee Family

Sakleshpura sits in the heart of the Western Ghats biosphere — a UNESCO
World Heritage landscape of extraordinary biodiversity. The altitude,
the rainfall, the forest cover, and the red laterite soil conspire to
produce a coffee that no other region on earth can replicate.

This is where Kote Coffee comes from. This is why it tastes the way it does.
